Katherine Armstrong has been awarded the Emil T. Hofman Award for outstanding teaching in the first year program. The Freeman TA award has been won by Charles Vardeman and the Rudy Bottei Graduate Teaching Award goes to Jeff Carney.

Roger Bretthauer has been elected an AAAS fellow.

Professor Roger Bretthauer has been elected to the rank of AAAS fellow. He is being honored for fundamental studies on biosynthesis and structure of glycosylated proteins in eukaryotic cells and in baculovirus-insect and Pichia yeast expression systems.

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Notre Dame is pleased to announce the appointment of Steven Corcelli to the faculty in 2005. Professor Corcelli, a theoretical chemist, is an expert in charge transfer reactions occurring in confined aqueous environments.
