Notre Dame Materials Science and Engineering program awards 10 graduate fellowships for the 2025-2026 academic year

Author: MSE Staff

The University of Notre Dame’s Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) program has awarded one-year fellowships for the 2025-2026 academic year to ten graduate students pursuing the MSE PhD. This year’s recognition brings the total number of fellowships awarded to 29 since the program’s inception in 2020.

The fellowships support collaborative materials research with the potential to generate proposals for external funding. As a key feature of the MSE program, the interdisciplinary mentors provide each student with additional resources and expertise to augment the doctoral candidate’s research and professional development.

“These fellows and research projects truly exemplify the cross-disciplinary nature of materials research at Notre Dame and its potential to have a positive impact,” said Masaru Kuno, Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry and interim chair of the MSE Executive Committee. “The multidisciplinary focus of these projects fosters a collaborative environment that provides students with the broad expertise needed to tackle complex materials challenges.”
Fellowship proposals are reviewed and selected by the MSE program’s Executive Committee.
