The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Notre Dame is pleased to announce the appointment of Zachary Schultz to the faculty in 2009. Professor Schultz is an expert in laser spectroscopic and imaging techniques. Professor Schultz received his B.S. in Chemistry from The Ohio State University in 2000. His Ph.D. work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign involved the use of nonlinear laser spectroscopy to explore the behavior of molecules at electrode surfaces. Following his Ph.D. work, he continued exploring nonlinear spectroscopy as a National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, which led to a research fellow position with Ira Levin at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases studying the properties of lipids in biomembranes and developing spectroscopic imaging techniques.
