Eight ND undergraduates recognized for academic achievement

Departmental awards are given to eight excellent members of the class of 2005. Eight graduating seniors in the department of chemistry and biochemistry have been honored with awards this year. Molly Savage and Matthew Bartley have received the American Institute of Chemists award, Dan Bugaris and Rachel Carpenter have been awarded the Merck Index award. Specific awards for the majors have also been awarded. Gregory A. Ellis wins this year’s Outstanding Biochemist Award, and Phillip Nagel takes the Outstanding Chemist Award. Ellis has also been awarded the Dr. Norbert Wiech award for research performance. Katherine Traynor has also been awarded two of the departmental awards. She is the 2005 William R. Wischerath Outstanding Chemistry Major, and she has also been awarded the Dr. Norbert Wiech award for excellence in academics. The department of chemistry and biochemistry is extremely proud of our talented class of 2005 and wish them the best of luck on their future endeavors.
