Professor Richard Taylor elected as a Fellow of AAAS

 As a part of the section on Chemistry, Professor Taylor was elected for distinguished contributions to organic synthesis and methodology development, and application of synthesis, conformational analysis, and biological studies to the medicinal chemistry of anticancer polyketides. Professor Taylor began his academic career at Notre Dame in 1995 and is currently Associate Dean for Research in the College of Science. His multidisciplinary research program explores the therapeutic potential of bacteria-derived natural products. Professor Taylor has mentored 16 Ph.D. graduates as well as several Master’s students and postdoctoral associates. His current research group consists of nine graduate students and six undergraduate research participants.
