Visionary leader Mr. Mike Harper dies at 88

Harper Hall Dedication Harper Jenkins Web

Mr. Mike Harper, benefactor of the Harper Cancer Research Institute (HCRI), died this weekend in Omaha NE at the age of 88.  The visionary goal of “Mr. Mike”, to create a private-public collaboration between the University of Notre Dame and Indiana University School of Medicine-South Bend to focus on eradicating cancer, has grown rapidly into a nationally recognized Institute with over 70 members in diverse disciplines.  At every visit to the HCRI, Mr. Mike would ask a single question, “Have you cured it yet?”.  As we redouble our efforts to answer Mr. Mike’s question, please see Omaha.com for more information about his amazing accomplishments. At HCRI, our thoughts and prayers are with the Harper family as they celebrate Mr. Mike’s extraordinary life and mourn his passing.
