“Aaron is an analytical scientist and bioengineer with extensive experience in many of the areas at the core of AD&T’s R&D portfolio,” Paul Bohn, Schmitt Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineer and Director of AD&T, said. “These include microfluidics and nanofluidics, precision medicine and proteomics, lab-on-a-chip sensors, and detection of environmental contaminants.”
Timperman is a former professor of chemistry at West Virginia University and more recently served as a research chemist at the US Army Corps of Engineer’s Engineer Research and Development Center in Champaign, Illinois.
“I’m excited to be at Notre Dame and look forward to contributing to AD&T research and assisting its faculty affiliates,” said Timperman. “Part of what attracted me here is the university’s growth in research, outstanding colleagues, and a strong interdisciplinary research program aimed at a wide array of human health issues.”
Timperman will have a concurrent appointment in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. A recent example of his work can be found in the cover article of the July 21, 2015, issue of Analytical Chemistry, Controlling the Ionic Current Rectification Factor of a Nanofluidic/Microfluidic Interface with Symmetric Nanocapillary Interconnects, of which he is the lead author.
“Aaron is a terrific scholar and a great addition to Notre Dame,” added Bohn. “He will help us reach the next level in both current and new programs.”
Launched in 2008, Advanced Diagnostics & Therapeutics is a nexus of research activity for more than 60 collaborating scientists and engineers who make discoveries and develop tools that promote human and environmental health.
