The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Notre Dame is pleased to announce the appointment of Amanda Hummon to the faculty in 2009 as the Walther Junior Professor. Professor Hummon is an expert on proteomics and gene regulation in colorectal cancer. Professor Hummon received her A.B. in Chemistry from Cornell University in 1999. Her Ph.D. work with Jonathan Sweedler at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign utilized mass spectrometry to elucidate neuropeptide gene expression. Following her Ph.D., she explored gene regulation in colorectal cancer with RNA interference as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Cancer Institute.
