Brandon Ashfield joins the Department

Author: Alec Hipshear

Brandon Ashfield has become the lastest member of faculty in the Department of CHemistry and Biochemistry. Professor Ashfield studied for his PhD under the direction of Professor Stephen F. Martin at the University of Texas at Austin before moving as a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Institute of Health Postdoctoral Fellow to the laboratories of Professor Barry M. Trost at Stanford University.

Professor Ashfield's research interests lie in organic chemistry. In particular, he is interested in the development of new synthetic methods which combine the selective, atom economical properties of transition metal catalysis with the efficiency of tandem processes to construct a variety of complex natural products.
